Birthday cakes for big and little kids

I do love doing birthday cakes.  If my husband is reading this, I’d love for someone to surprise me with a fun cake for my birthday!  It would make my day, as I hope my cakes do for others!

Chocolate cake, with fresh sliced strawberries and cream cheese icing, finished with black fondant.

Lemon buttermilk cake, with tangy lemon curd and vanilla bean buttercream. Finished with yellow fondant, and sugar daisies.

Cael’s Monster’s Inc. cake!  Marbled chocolate and vanilla cake with oreo buttercream.

Bernadette’s 5oth birthday cupcakes included Lemon, Red Velvet, Chocolate Caramel, Vanilla Bean, and Chocolate peppermint.

Chocolate and Vanilla skull cupcakes for Brianna’s 12th birthday.

Chocolate Castle for Katelyn!  Finished with pink vanilla bean buttercream, rice krispie towers topped with chocolate dipped turrets.

This cake was designed by Caroline, and I was so pleased to re-create it for her birthday!  Marbled chocolate and vanilla cake with oreo buttercream.

I LOVE CUPCAKES (and it’s a good thing I do)!

Things have been busy with cupcakes in the last 2 weeks!  In my humble opinion, they are the perfect treat for any celebration.  They can be designed, colored and flavored in an endless amount of ways, plus they’re just so cute and individual.  I love cupcakes!!

A new flavor I’ve been doing lately, is the Chocolate Macaroon cupcake.  It has become one of my new favorites. It is: sour cream chocolate cake, baked with a coconut cheesecake center, finished with chocolate coconut fudge icing.  Deee-wish, as CheshireCat would say.

First birthday cupcakes.. Hi-Hat (chocolate cake with a blue marshmallow layer under a chocolate shell) and Caramel filled chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream.

Baby Shower… Strawberry Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, Peppermint Chocolate, Lemon, and Carrot cupcakes with hand printed heart cut outs.

Cupcakes for the Market… each week I do an assortment of 5 flavors for the Farmer’s Market.  I rarely come home with any, unless I set one aside for us early!  Often times, the cupcakes are gone before 11 a.m.!  Shown here: Snickers (chocolate cake, creamy caramel filling, vanilla bean buttercream, chocolate ganache and salted peanuts) Hi-Hat, Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Icing, Lemon Blueberry, and Double Chocolate Fudge.

Mini Cupcakes for a Bridal Shower… fuchsia vanilla bean icing on vanilla cake with white butterflies (if you look closely you can see little black flecks in the icing, which is the vanilla seed), chocolate fudge icing on marbled chocolate and vanilla cake with a flower garnish, and cream cheese icing on red velvet cake with initial imprinted hearts.

We’re also still doing Cupcake Fridays at Time Machine Candy Works on Charlotte St. in Sydney.  Perfect treat for your coffee break at the end of  the week.  I’d call ahead to place an order to avoid missing out though.. they go quickly!
